ODE TO MY FRIZZY HAIR.....

So, right now, my hair pretty much looks like this. Why? Because I got me a perm. Yup, that's right, a perm. I know what you're thinking....why? Well, my hair is getting to the point where it's pretty long. It's.also.stick.straight. It doesn't matter how many hours (yes, HOURS!) I spend curling it, it will seriously fall ten minutes later. So, I went to my hair dresser and asked for a perm (it was either a cut, a color or a perm. For something new, I went with the perm). We had to set up another appointment for the big event as she didn't have any solution on hand (seeing as how perm's aren't REALLY the big thing right now - in fact, I think the last time I actually got a perm was the late 80's!) I completely forgot about how much perms hurt, and suck, and smell, and take forever, and.....we'll, you get the idea, right? So, because my hair rocks and seemed to take really well (we used the really loose big rods, I had no desire to pull the whole poodle look by using the smaller rods) it's completely frizzy looking right now and HUGE (especially when I brush it out! Yikes!) I have to wait a couple more days before I can wash it and then hopefully the beast will be tamed.....hopefully.
P.S. Note to self: Never perm your hair AGAIN!!!

I hope it turns out how you wanted it too. I have been wondering, were you able to find a new job yet?

I need to see a picture! I do have some suggestions for curly hair if you want them. Even if you don't want, I'm going to tell you. I've learned a little in the last 4 years dealing with London's hair. Rule #1: NEVER brush curly hair! It just makes it frizzy, as you now know. Rule #2: product is your friend. I'm not a fan of mousse because it ends up looking wet and crunchy. I've heard good things about Infusium 23 but I use Garnier Fructise cream gel. It keeps her hair soft, but not frizzy or crunchy. Rule #3: post a picture ASAP. We need to be able to make fun of you and your "lion hair."

P.S. I have a friend who posted a blog a while back on how to do curly hair. Here's a link if you're interested. http://thedailymusicians.blogspot.com/2009/06/curly-hair.html

Oh, what? I think perms are the best. You have the option of being curly or flat-ironing to have straight hair again. LOVe it!

Use a pic. Not a brush. I love infusium. And also aerosol hairspray, for an even hold. Unless you're in to that environment stuff, then aerosol would be bad.

Where is a pic????

oh maris-i love ya! this post just made me laughing hysterically because basically my whole childhood thats all my hair was-perms perms and more perms-i hated them but my hair had natural curls that would go frizzy when they dried so perms were basically my only option-and i hated them! thank goodness for straighteners! i wanna see a pic! and kierst is right, don't use a brush, use a pick. i'm sure once you tame the beast, it will look really cute-i'm excited to see!

I can't wait to see a picture as well. I did a perm once when I was 18, for a change with the same results. My hair is really wavy/curly now (since having kids I guess) but back then it just had some natural wave. I guess that was all it took because it took the perm TOO well and I had a huge poofy head of hair too. In time, it did relax but I ended up straightening it most days. I think that you are getting a lot of good advice by all the other comments I've seen on here. I am actually going to try a couple of the suggestions on here too and see how they work. I would love totally straight hair. I guess there are always some issues no matter what type of hair you have. Best of luck in finding the best solution!

ya, no brush...and drying it with a diffuser helps with the no frizzy's! although it's funny...you trying to make your hair curly, and I try to make mine straight! We always want what we don't have!

I'm like everyone else and was scanning the post looking for a picture! I'm sure it looks great and will relax soon! I love that you love change and DO IT with your hair often! I've had the same hair since....well, birth. I've never done anything to it but am toying with idea of highlighting it....Yes, it's a huge step, lol.

Keep it up!
