STRESS

I don't know about anyone else, but sometimes I just don't handle stress very well. When I'm stressed, I like to eat.a.lot. Not the good stuff either. The worse the stress, the more pasta, candy and bread products sound REALLY good! This past week was pretty bad. There's been a lot going on lately and everything came to a head on Friday. So, I ended up taking a half day and going to lunch with the bubs. I started out the week doing REALLY good on my fertility diet and by the end of the week I was drinking coke (it was diet!) and eating crap. I'm also kinda bummed because I wanted to start going back to the gym in the morning this week. But, with daylight savings, it might a full week for my body to get used to the time change. I'm hoping this week will be a little better because I'm tired of just about everything right now. So, here's my question to you. How do you handle stress? Without stuffing your face, I mean? Oh, I'm also really bad about shopping when I'm stressed. For some reason spending money (especially on crafts and decor) makes me feel a TON better! Maybe that's why I decided to completely change the kitchen this weekend???? On the plus side, I'm really digging the new orange happy color in the kitchen and our bedroom is pretty much done (see previous post).!

I don't sleep well. When I'm stressed I'm on edge and will wake up at night mulling over things in my mind in the middle of the night. Which never helps. Everything seems worse at night than it does in the morning after a good night's sleep...and yet...I do it over and over.

My aunt gave me this book on things you can do for yourself. So once a week you set time aside to do something small and inexpensive for yourself. Some examples would be a bubble bath, painting your toes, playing with playdough or one of my favs is coloring in a $1 coloring book, crayons and all! ;) It helps me when I actually make the time for it.

maris-as time goes by the more i realize how much we are alike (ya know besides being utah girls), i too eat. it feels good when i am stressed to workout, but its getting to the point of working out that i battle with. i too like to spend money, and i notice my house gets cleaner when i am stressed or mad. so i guess sometimes stress can be a good thing, cuz i may have a clean house or a new something i bought at the store, but sometimes it would be nice to not have stress at all. hope this week is better for ya!

I'm the same way. I shop and eat when I'm stressed. I've had to channel it into different things. Some of my new stress activities are: cleaning (the DEEP stuff)(i do a GOOD job!), playing the piano (totally calms me down), i go to target...fill up the cart with everything i want...and leave it somewhere, buying ONE thing or NOTHING. That last one is AWESOME! You get the happy feeling putting it in your cart and then not buying it is even more exhilerating. Strange, I know...cause I love to buy things.
